Set It Then Let It

What’s in Your Zone?
If you have more than one type of heating system, you need to coordinate each one’s thermostats and operation. Many central heating systems have zones that can be changed. In the zone where your heat pump is located, you should turn the thermostat way down or even off. If your heat pump is heating large areas, or there are no zones, close radiators, dampers, or registers where the pump is located.
Avoid Using Auto Mode
Do not just set your heat pump system to automatic when you can choose the heat setting in the winter and the cool setting in the summer. The auto setting can cause too much of a fluctuation in the home. The goal of a heat pump system is to maintain a steady heat. If you can leave your thermostat alone, it will function best.
